says Aristotle before he describes the "Four Causes" (of which some of you may ask "are they truly 'causes'? - but who cares).
And Plato, his "mentor" has Socrates ask that important question:
Soc: Herein lies the difficulty which I can never solve to my satisfaction - What is knowledge?
Well, my friends, young and ancient, look no further.
Our modern wisdom has supplied the answer, Socrates. Theaetetus, pay attention and take note.
